18 h artists´ talk on Artist´s Colonies in Serbia
Thanks to the invitation of artists Nada Denić and Milan Jakšić (RS) and the artists´ colony of Opovo (RS) IEFS Kiesling & Stolberg got the chance to experience diverse contemporary cultural practices in the rural area of Baranda in the Vojvodina.
„Where is the art?“ painter Milan Jakšić asked and this kept being the main question of the collective research in and around Baranda when visiting artists´places, farmhouses and local fabrication.
Some of the findings of the research are being represented at Remont gallery
in differing formats: Drawing, photography, videos produced with the core team
of the Opovo Art Colony, found-footage from the web referring to Barandas fame as filmski
grad of the popular and controversial TV series Vratiće

UMETNOST KOLONIJE /Künstlerkolonien in Serbien
Artists´ Talk Monday, 26.9.2016, 6 pm, Remont
Jovan Popovic Gallery Opovo, is home of the annual Opovo Art Colony for more than 40 years. The building is an architectural landmark, a modernistic chapel and is used as atelier for the participants of the Kolonije. It serves as the interface between public, guests and local artists, who also run the space. We talk about the topics why artists take part in a colony, in which way art colonies (could) have an impact on the rural community, the relation of this art practice to the canon of global art scene and discourse and how the idea of an art colony from 19th century has changed during communist times until today and what could evolve from it in the future.
